KM-14
St. Wenceslas on horse. Reverse: Shield.
Czechoslovakia became a nation in 1918. It was a union of the Czechs from the Austrian dominated western area, and a union of the Slovaks from the Hungarian dominated eastern area. This arrangement might have worked except for the interference of Hitler in Germany, who demanded independence for the German minority (sudetenland). The Munich agreement in 1938, legitimized Hitler’s demands and destroyed Czechoslovakia.
