The obverse features a design that is similar to the circulating three cent nickel pieces but on the larger format of a nickel. On the reverse, a laurel wreath, open at the top encircles a Roman numeral V, the wide side of the V on the viewer's right, CENTS below the V. A whisper of pale toning is seen on each side.
