The Edoni were a Thracian tribe who occupied the region around the lower Strymon, east of Lake Kerkinitis. The town of Myrkinos was their chief center. All of the known Edonian coins are in the name of Getas. While these are typically inscribed around the incuse square of the reverse, following the example of Alexander I of Macedon, this remarkable issue bears the obverse legend, NOMISMA EDONEON BASILEOS GITA, "a coin of Getas, king of the Edones."
