Henry VI, noble, annulet issue, mm. lis (1422-27), London, king with sword and shield stg. facing in ship, annulet by sword arm, rev. ornate cross within a tressure of eight arches, with alternating crowned lions in angles and lis at ends of cross, h in centre within square cartouche, annulet in one spandrel (S.1799. N.1414), in plastic holder, graded by PCGS as Mint State 64, a consistently sharp strike on a broad flan showing full legends and rims, the king’s tiny face sharply defined, very light flan wave, exceptionally fine gold colour and surfaces £5000-6000 A particularly choice example of this classic type.
