WORLD MEDALS, FRANCE, First Empire, Napoléon I, Marriage to Marie-Louise, Silver Medalet, 1810, by Andrieu and Galle, conjoined busts right, rev Napoléon and Marie-Louise standing by an altar, date in exergue, plain rim, 15mm (Bramsen 956; Julius 2267). Uncirculated, toned. A quantity of medals was issued for the religious ceremony of the wedding, which took place in Paris on the 2nd April. The large medals in gold or silver were offered to the guests, the smaller ones were given to the people in the streets. £30-50
