1 Cent    (sold for $2900.0)

1819/8 N-1 R1 Overdate 9 over 8 MS60. Attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate with traces of faded mint color peeking through on the reverse. Very nice, nearly flawless. The best identifying marks are a nick-like planchet chip in the center of the neck and a small planchet flake (as struck) at the left base of the E in CENT. Sharply struck EDS showing smooth, hard fields on both sides. There are triple profiles on many of the obverse devices, including the ear, nose, chin, and bust plus several of the stars (all caused by die bounce). A very nice example of this popular overdate variety. Estimated Value $600-UP. Lawrie Rhoads collection. Categories: Liberty Cents
