Trajan, AD 98-117. AE Dupondius minted at Rome, AD 103-111. Radiate head right of Trajan. Reverse: Military trophy. RIC 586; C. 573. Fantastic detail from fresh dies and a bold strike. Superb Extremely Fine. Like U.S. silver twenty-cent pieces or three-dollar gold coins, Roman dupondii are quite scarce as a denomination. When found, they tend to be worn, showing extended use. This particular example is unusually well delineated. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,200. Categories: Ancient Coins
