The Prospero Collection of Ancient Greek Coins. MYSIA. Kyzikos (c.450-400 B.C.), Electrum Stater, 16.10g. Youthful Dionysos, naked to waist and wearing a himation over his lower body, and a fillet, the ends of which are seen on either side of his head, reclining to left on a rock, which is covered with a panther’s skin, he holds a kantharos (off the flan) in his extended right hand and rests his left arm on the rock, a tunny below. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square of mill-sail pattern (W. Greenwell, ‘The Electrum Coinage of Cyzicus’, NC 1887, 38, pl. II, 15-16; Von Fritze, Nomisma VII, 155, pl. V, 3; BMC 107, pl.
