1 Cent    (sold for $625.0)

1805 S-268 R3 VF20. Sharper by at least 5 points but the surfaces are slightly dull due to underlying extremely faint roughness that is only visible under strong magnification. There are traces of crud dusted into the most-protected areas on the reverse. The only contact marks are two small nicks under the A in STATES. Partially glossy dark steel and olive brown with underlying frosty luster showing through in the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse. A decent example of a variety that is difficult to find in higher grades. Estimated Value $500-UP. Lawrie Rhoads collection. Categories: Draped Bust Cents
