У середині та наприкінці дев’ятнадцятого століття, з 1836 до 1891 року, на більшості срібних монет Сполучених Штатів з’являлися малюнки «Сидяча свобода». Номінали, на яких зображено «Сидяча свобода», включали половину дайма, дайм, чверть, половину долар, а до 1873 р. срібний долар. Ще одна монета, яка з’явилася виключно в дизайні Seated Liberty, була номіналом у двадцять центів. Цю монету випускали з 1875 по 1878 рік, і її було припинено, оскільки вона була дуже схожа на чверть.
