1536,
MEXICO. Carlos & Johanna, Early Series. 1/2 Real, ND (1536). Francisco del Rincon. PCGS VF-30 Secure Holder.
KM-6; Nesmith-2; Cal-type-118#168 (plate coin). This piece ranks among the first coins struck at the Mexico City mint and for that matter, the entire New World (1536). It was produced with the first set of punches with all gothic lettering in both obverse and reverse legends. VERY RARE and essential in assembling a denomination set of the first assayer of the first coins produced in the new world. An exceptional example of this RARE denomination for Francisco del Rincon. The nicest example of this type we have handled. Attractive and uniformly struck with virtually full legends. Nicely toned.
PCGS#: 846755
