自由女神头像（V）镍币于 1883 年至 1912 年间正式铸造。

自由女神头像镍币（有时因其背面（或尾部）设计而被称为 V 型镍币）是一种美国 5 美分硬币。它从 1883 年到 1912 年一直在流通，其中至少有五枚 1913 年偷偷铸造的硬币。

最初的铜镍五美分硬币，即盾牌镍币，长期存在生产问题，19 世纪 80 年代初，美国铸币局开始寻找替代品。铸币局首席雕刻师查尔斯·巴伯受命为一美分、三美分和五美分硬币设计图案，这些硬币的设计也与盾牌镍币相似。只有新的五美分硬币获得批准，并于 1883 年投入生产。近三十年来，这种设计的硬币被大量生产以满足商业需求，尤其是随着投币机越来越受欢迎。
