1849 N-17 R3 MS60. The obverse is lustrous mint red fading to steel and chocolate brown with nearly a third of that side showing mint red. The reverse is frosty light to medium chocolate brown with only traces of original mint color. Excellent eye appeal for the grade. The only marks, and they are not at all significant, are a pair of small nicks or planchet chips on the jawline above the throat, another small void on the right end of the truncation, and a tiny nick on the truncation above the 8. E-MDS, die state b. Tied for CC#7 honors in the Grellman census. Estimated Value $1,000-UP. Categories: Liberty Cents
