1829 C-1 R1 G6. Date Altered to 1820. Glossy light chocolate and medium brown. The surfaces are smooth but the rim and dentils above the head are a bit uneven and there are two pinprick nicks at the T in CENT. EDS, Manley state 1.0. The date was carefully altered to 1820, the 9 changed into an 0. Some of the tool marks required to make the change remain visible inside the "0" but the work was done with reasonable skill and this piece could fool some people. Of course "1820" is a fanciful date in the half cent series so fooling a serious collector is out of the question. Davy #29.1.17. Estimated Value $20-UP. Ex Don Valenziano 1/13/2000.
