1794 S-49 R2. NGC graded VF-30. Attractive glossy chocolate brown and steel blending to dark chocolate in protected areas. A glass reveals extremely fine roughness in protected areas, strongest at ED-ST, but overall this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only mark is a diagonal nick in the field under the tip of the chin. M-LDS, Breen state II late. A very strong die crack extends from the rim down through the E in LIBERTY into the hair below. The obverse is centered on the planchet but the reverse is slightly misaligned to K-3 causing some weakness on the tops of AMERICA. Our grade is F15. The attribution and Mervis provenance are shown on the NGC label. Estimated Value $2,000-UP. Ex Greg Hannigan 5/2012-Adam Mervis, Heritage 1/10/2014:2483. Categories: Liberty Cap Cents
