1851 N-45 R4 AU50. Mint state sharpness but this cent has been lightly cleaned and nicely retoned olive and steel brown. The surfaces are lustrous and free of spots or contact marks. However there is an obvious planchet lamination on the rim at the bottom of the reverse (as struck). MDS, die state a late or b early. The terminal die crack from near star 4 through the head to star 8 is only partially formed and very faint. Tied for CC#9 in the Grellman census. Estimated Value $400-UP. Ex Robert F.
