1796 S-100 R5 Draped Bust AG3. Slightly sharper on the lower half of the obverse and upper half of the reverse where the designs were more strongly impressed into the planchet (thanks to the die faces being out of perfect horizontal alignment). The date is complete and clear. The only marks are faint hairline scratches that cover both sides, but these are not distracting and the eye appeal is quite nice for the grade. Mostly glossy dark chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning covering the devices. The two-tone contrast accents the designs and enhances the eye appeal on this well-worn cent. EDS, Breen state I, before any clashmarks. Estimated Value $150-UP. Ex Henry T. Hettger, 2006 EAC Sale, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 5/6/2006:120-Rod Burress 6/2006. Categories: Draped Bust Cents
