1846 N-4 R1 Boldly Repunched Date MS62. Very attractive glossy light greenish olive brown with smooth, slightly reflective fields on both sides thanks to a fresh die polishing. No spots or stains, only a few tiny contact marks on the obverse from choice. The notable ones are a pair of tiny nicks on the jaw and a dull one in the field midway between the chin and star 3. Rare LDS, die state d, with a rim cud break under 184. A beautiful cent. CC#5 for the die variety but finest of those known with the rim cud in the Grellman census. The repunching on the date is still clearly visible on all 4 digits. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS63BN (NGC label #1756096-002, and it shows the attribution). Comes with a nice provenance. Estimated Value $500-UP. Ex Henry C. Hines-Willard C. Blaisdell 9/1976 (via Del Bland)-R. E. Naftzger, Jr.-unknown-Heritage 8/2004:13005-Doug Durasoff. Categories: Liberty Cents
