1846 N-12 R1 Tall Date VF30. Ten points sharper but covered with tiny nicks, none significant but too many to ignore, plus a barely visible rim bruise at the D in UNITED. The planchet is smooth except for the area at ATES-OF-A where there are numerous tiny planchet flakes or fissures, apparently as struck. Nice glossy medium brown with frost in protected areas on the reverse. Rare LDS, die state i, with a connected series of rim cud breaks from star 1 to star 5 with another at stars 5-6. The margins of these cuds are very clearly defined and this cent is tied for finest of only 13 known in this die state in the Grellman census. An important cent and it comes with a decent provenance. Estimated Value $200-UP. Ex Floyd T. Starr, Stack's 12/6/1984:1826-Jack Robinson, Superior 1/29/1989:1285-Dick Punchard 11/9/1989-Daniel W.
