1847 N-19 R1 Repunched 4 AU58. A mint state cent that has too many light contact marks on the face and neck for an uncirculated grade. A thin vertical pre-striking planchet line on the neck is the best identifying mark. Frosty light steel brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel in the fields and protected areas. About 5% of the original mint red remains visible, mostly on the reverse, and an area of slightly darker steel toning is hidden in the curls right of the neck. EDS, die state a. The die lines around ONE CENT are clear and the repunching on the 4 is obvious. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS63BN (PCGS label #1877.63/21860593 included). Estimated Value $200-UP.
