1844 N-1 R1 Repunched 1 AU50. Glossy medium brown with frosty lighter brown toning in the protected areas. Specks of slightly darker chocolate brown toning are scattered throughout the obverse fields. The only notable contact marks are a couple very light ones in the field under star 11. MDS, die state c late, with a series of small but clear rim cud breaks under the date extending to below the stars at either side. The die cracks at stars 9 & 10 are very fine and the reverse is uncracked. This is the Grellman plate coin for the die state in his 2001 edition of the attribution guide for the large cents of 1840-1857. Estimated Value $300-UP.
