1796 S-89 R3 Liberty Cap VG10. Attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. The surfaces appear perfectly smooth but there are a dozen very tiny specks of greenish verdigris scattered over the reverse, and all of them are hidden in the devices so they do not catch your eye. The only defect that reaches the unaided eye is a light rim bruise left of the middle curls. The date is bold and the legends are complete and clear. MDS Breen state II, with obvious crumbling on the lips and a speck of crumbling under the tip of the nose. Estimated Value $500-UP. Ex Doug Durasoff (via Dan Bailey) 4/2009-Ed Leitner.
