L. Hostilius Saserna, moneyer. AR Denarius minted at Rome, c. 48 BC. Head right of Gallia; behind, carnyx. Reverse: Diana of Ephesus facing, with stag and spear. Hostilia 4; Cr. 448/3; Syd 953. Very scarce and desirable type. Extremely Fine, with dispersed porosity on reverse. Represented on this denarius is a carnyx, a long trumpet used by the Gauls. Estimated Value $250 - 300. Categories:
