1851 N-14 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Repunched 1. Glossy olive and steel with sea-green overtones. Mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides. The toning is attractive but may not be original. The only mark is a very light scuff across the cheek to the neck under the ear, and this mark is confined to the layer of waxy gloss rather than on the copper itself. (The waxy gloss on a large cent is easily marked by a finger, even a gloved one, and this appears to happen rather often as these pieces are being slabbed.) Rare EDS, die state a. The repunching under the left base of the first 1 is clear and weaker doubling is also visible under the peak of that numeral. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS in BN. Estimated Value $250-UP. Ex Doug Bird 2/9/96. Categories:
