1849 N-26 R3 EF40. Attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Just a few light contact marks, the notable ones being a nick over the right top of the T in CENT, another in the field under that EN, and a small rim nick off the end of the wreath ribbon. Otherwise this cent is close to EF45. Scarce EDS, die state a, with myriad fine die lines near the dentils at stars 2-4. A nice example of a variety that's difficult to find in high grade. Estimated Value $200-UP. Ex Dick Punchard 11/9/1989-Daniel W. Holmes, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/30/2011:380-Doug Durasoff (Holmes lot ticket included). Categories: Liberty Cents
