Face à une réaction publique plus négative, les cents Coronet ont été redessinés en 1835 par le nouveau graveur en chef Christian Gobrecht. Ce dernier changement majeur apporté à la pièce a mis à jour l'avers en donnant à Liberty une apparence plus mince et plus jeune. Des ajustements mineurs se sont poursuivis jusqu'en 1843, et le modèle de 1843 a prévalu jusqu'à la fin du monnayage en 1857. Environ 11 ans après l'arrêt de la production du gros centime, un employé de la Monnaie a frappé plusieurs gros centimes datés de 1868, presque certainement destinés à être vendus comme raretés instantanées aux numismates. Moins d’une douzaine de ces émissions non officielles, frappées à la fois en bronze et en cuivre-nickel, ont survécu.
