Iran (Persia). 10 Kran - Toman, AH 1301 / 1884 AD (Tehran?). Dav-286 (thought by Davenport to have been minted in Brussels); KM-917. Nasir al-Din Shan, 1848-1896. Draped bust of Shan, three-quarters frontal, wearing large medal and high-peaked hat with aigrette; laureate border around. Reverse: Four lines of script, plus date, within inner circle; flanking laurel and oak sprays, crown above, royal lion below. Sharply struck with reflective lustrous mirror surfaces. The Millennia specimen NGC graded MS-62 realized $18,975 and in our Sept. 2008 sale an NGC graded AU 55 realized $8050. This specimen is quite attractive. NGC graded AU-58.
