Reverse: Papal legate´s hat above cross-topped round composite coat-of-arms. Crossed sword and crozier in background. Date (17-19) in fields. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Olomouc (German: Erzbistum Olmütz) is an archdiocese of the Latin Rite of the RomanCatholic Church in the Czech Republic. Not much is known about the beginnings of the Diocese of Olomouc. It was reestablished in 1063 and in 1777 it was elevated to an archdiocese.
Schrattenbach Wolfgang Hannibal: * 12.9.1660 Graz, † 22.7.1738 Brno / Moravia (Brno / CZ). Bishop and music patron. Prepared for the spiritual career of the Jesuits, he studied in Salzburg and Graz in 1676/77 and in Rome in 1677-83. In 1682 he became canon to Olomouc (Olomouc / CZ) and Salzburg, 1688 priestly ordination. 1699 Salzburger Domdechant, 1703-11 was Sch. Bishop of Seckau and from 1711 of Olomouc; 1712 Cardinal. In 1719-21 he reigned as viceroy of Naples / I (successor to Johann Wenzel Count von Gallas), after which he returned to Olomouc. Under W.H., Italian operas and oratorios were performed in Kremsier, and in 1729-38 he supported the care of oratorios in Brno.
