Lettering: 1857 1861 IN GOD WE TRUST 2010 W 15TH PRESIDENCY Engraver: Christian Gobrecht Christian Gobrecht was the third Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1840 until his death in 1844. He was responsible for designing the famous “Seated Liberty” designs, which were in turn the direct inspiration for the design of the Trade Dollar. Reverse James Buchanan during his early youth, when he worked as a bookkeeper in a small country store owned by his family.
