(1667-69) Saint Patrick Farthing Breen-218 Griffee G81-2/0b Rarity 7+ VF20. Variety with a "Martlet" below King. Attractive glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter brown toning on the devices. No marks or planchet defects. The only defects are traces of verdigris in protected areas on the king side. Otherwise this piece is choice, especially for a St. Patrick farthing. The "Martlet" or small bird under the King is clear and the brass splasher extends from the crown into the face and chest of the King. Finest of only 5 known to us of this variety, far superior to the Vlack-Griffee example. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook." Weight 75.2 grains. Estimated Value $1,000-UP. Categories: Colonials
