Sicily, Syracuse, c. 460-440 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.4 g). Quadriga pacing right; Nike flies to crown the horses; the charioteer holds a goad in his right hand and the reins in his left. Reverse: Head of Arethusa right, wearing a ring and crescent earring, and a pearl necklace; her hair is bound with a cord down to which it falls from the crown in heavy locks, and over which it is tucked in from the ear backwards, with a row of luxuriant curls along the forehead.
