1808 S-277 R2 Turban Head VF20. Sharpness VF35 but covered with very fine roughness. No verdigris or contact marks. Cleaned and poorly retoned frosty dark bluish steel mixed with lighter and darker tones of olive. The toning on the obverse is reasonably uniform but the reverse is mottled and unattractive. M-LDS with die failure at TA in STATES that has caused star 1 to be completely missing (not struck up at all), the so-called 12-star die state. Deserves a proper retoning. Estimated Value $200-UP.
