1 Cent    (sold for $3300.0)

1795 S-78 R1 Plain Edge EF45. Five points sharper but lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy olive brown and chocolate with underlying reddish chocolate brown toning in protected areas. The only marks are some pre-striking planchet chips in the field before the portrait and others at MER in AMERICA. This piece offers excellent eye appeal and looks better than the assigned grade might imply. MDS, Breen state IV. There is subtle swelling in the field before the portrait and clear multiple die clashmarks on the reverse. Estimated Value $3,000-UP. Categories: Liberty Cap Cents
