W Translation: W= West Point Mint Comments Proof platinum eagles were produced from 1997-2008 at the US West Point mint in New York. Unlike the standard bullion coins of the metal, they each had a different reverse design depending on year of issue, and thus different names. The name of the 2002-W coin is "North West."
