1796 S-83 R4 Liberty Cap VG8. Nice glossy dark chocolate brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning covering the devices. The obverse is a couple points sharper than the reverse, as usual on these Liberty Cap varieties. A glass reveals extremely faint roughness well hidden under the glossy toning, but the eye appeal remains quite nice. No verdigris. The only mark is a light scratch in the field under the cap. MDS, Breen state II, with a die crack through ERTY. The date is bold and the legends are easily readable, although a few letters on the reverse are weak. Estimated Value $500-UP.
