During this troubled, short reign, the commander-in-chief of Britain was later proclaimed Western ruler by his troops. The usurpation was soon enlarged to include, as co-emperor, Maximus' young son, Flavius Victor. Later, Theodosius I had them both killed. London was known as "Augusta" for a short time, hence the mintmark. Estimated Value $20,000-UP.
