1807 S-271 R1 "Comet" Obverse F15+. Five points sharper but there are several small rim bruises or dull rim nicks on each side, the largest of these left of the L in LIBERTY. The surfaces are mostly smooth but a glass reveals traces of verdigris on each side. Rather glossy chocolate brown and steel with steel brown toning on the devices. Impressive M-LDS, Breen state VI, Iskra state IV. The "Comet" flaw behind the head is bold and the other linear die flaws in the obverse fields and across the neck are clear. A nice example of this popular "Redbook" variety. Estimated Value $400-UP. Ex Bill Tivol 4/1991-Fred Iskra 1/2003-Doug Durasoff-Ed Leitner. Categories: Draped Bust Cents
