1793 S-5 R4 Wreath Cent with Large LIBERTY, Vine & Bars Edge F15. Sharpness near VF30 but the planchet is covered with uniform faint microscopic granularity. No verdigris and the only mark is a tiny streak of reddish planchet slag between the feet of the 7 & 9 in the date, as struck. Both sides were lightly burnished and retoned an attractive natural-looking glossy olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. Nicely struck and well centered on the planchet. EDS but not quite the earliest with dentils fused over LI but not over BER, Breen state II early. This cent offers excellent eye appeal in spite of the surface issues. Estimated Value $3,000-UP. Ex Pierre Fricke. Categories: Flowing Hair Cents
