† Coins of India. East India Company. Bombay Presidency, 1/5-Rupee, undated, obv “8” instead of the usual “5”, 2.26g.Good very fine and rare. This was discovered within the last 30 years. It has an “8” where there should be a “5” in the denomination. The 2.26g weight is correct for a 1/5-Rupee, so it is most likely a die error where there was, perhaps, thought of putting the ry 8 in the usual spot (as KM 271) but somehow a large “8” was incorrectly used. We believe this to be one of only a few known. Part of the David Fore Collection of British Indian Coins. £120-180
