1914-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-65. Nice golden toning. A consignment of heavenly 1914-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles arrived at our offices seemingly out of the blue, and were we surprised when we spread them out on the conference room table to examine them. For they were (and are), without mincing words, fresh, original, and almost perfectly matched for color and surface originality. Here, we tell ourselves, is the ultimate run of Gem specimens for the connoisseur of this popular gold series. Unless we misjudge out bidders, each and every one of these will find an appreciative new home. Be guided by the understanding that when these sell, there might not be another multiple coin run such as this offered for sale. As for the sparkling individual in this Lot, Virtually glowing in the fields as though nuclear charged with energy. On top of this, substantial detail to the highpoints on this fine example confirms the MS65 grade, with a thorough and effectual, indeed an almost fantastic sharp imprint from the dies; there are no weak areas left by the recoil of the dies, none whatsoever.
