Head of Persephone left with long flowing hair, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring, and necklace; behind, boukranion. Reverse: Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga left; below horses, E. Cf. Sear 983; SNG ANS Sicily III 865 (same dies). An exceptional example and completely free from die rust. Choice Extremely Fine. Hieron II's reign of Syracuse is of historic interest because it spanned the First and Second Punic Wars.
