1710,
POLAND. Satirical Silver Cosel Jeton, ND (ca. 1710). ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.

21.03 mm; 2.53 gms.  Cupid left on plinth holding bow left and sitting on heart, legend around; Reverse: Cock and hen conjoined within outlined beaded boarder, legend above.  The countess of Cosel, Anna Constantia von Brockdorff was a mistress of Augustus II and was of German decent.  She bore Augustus II three children, two daughters and a son (Frederick Augustus).  Her son would eventually become the king of Poland as Augustus III upon the death of his father.  During her time in the Polish court she constantly interfered with politics and was disliked by many.  Eventually she was exiled to Saxony where she died after 49 years of imprisonment.  Well struck and attractively toned.
