Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. Ptolemy I, 323-285 BC. AR Tetradrachm (15.53 g) minted at Alexandria with Ptolemy I as Satrap, c. 310-305 BC. Head right of Alexander the Great wearing elephant skin. Reverse: Athena Alkidemos striding right, holding raised spear and shield; in right field, monogram, helmet and eagle standing right on thunderbolt. SNG Cop plate I, 29; Sv. 162. Graffiti at reverse periphery. Very Fine. From the hoards that have been found, this important coin type very often exhibits flan faults and graffiti.
