Impressive Silver 2 Ruble Novodel of Peter the Great
KM-N-G2; Sev-533; Bit-3643 (R2); Uzd-0601. Reeded edge type. Mintage of only 20 pieces. The surfaces and overall details, as well as evidence of multiple striking suggests special preparation in manufacture of a proof or specimen nature. The centerpiece of this massive silver 2 Ruble displays a bold and well refined portraiture of Peter the Great. The portraiture is artistically well rendered with much attention paid to the finer details in the hair, laurel wreath, drapery and armored cuirass. It's bright surfaces are accented with beautiful hues of light blue and grey, with darker tones in the high points. This EXTREMELY RARE and low mintage type exists only as a Novodel and was never issued for general circulation. A wonderful coin that would please even the most sophisticated of collectors.
