The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Olomouc (German: Erzbistum Olmutz) is an archdiocese of the Latin Rite of the RomanCatholic Church in the Czech Republic. Not much is known about the beginnings of the Diocese of Olomouc. It was reestablished in 1063 and in 1777 it was elevated to an archdiocese.
Karl II von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn (1623-1695) was a Catholic priest and prince of the church. He was ordained a priest in Austria in 1655, and served as Prince-Bishop of Olomouc (Olmutz) in the Czech Republic from 1664 to 1695. A cultured man, he was among other things a collector of music, and maintained close ties with the imperial court in Vienna throughout his career.
