BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΛYΣIMAXOY , Athena, helmeted, enthroned to left, holding Nike in her outstretched right hand and resting her left elbow on a shield at her side, behind her rests a spear, herm in outer left field, cult-image in inner left field, a monogram in the exergue (Thompson, ‘The Mints of Lysimachus’, in Essays to Robinson, 222). A superb portrait of Alexander the Great of wonderful style, struck in high relief, lightly toned, a few light marks, extremely fine.
