1852-C. PCGS graded EF-40. Nice and bold, lightly toned. A total of 72,574 minted. Charlotte Mint (along with its companion mint in Dahlonega, Georgia) struck gold coins exclusively. Until the 1849-52 period, most of the gold these contained came from local gold mines. But following the California Gold Rush in 1849, much of the bullion made its way to the Eastern mints before the San Francisco facility began operations in 1854 (PCGS # 8251) .
