1844/81 N-2 R2 Overdate 44 over Inverted 18 EF40. Ten points sharper but recolored glossy light olive and bluish steel brown. The surfaces are smooth and the only marks are a faint spot of reddish brown toning under star 8, a diagonal nick right of the lower lip, and a small splash of slightly darker chocolate toning at the bottom of the N in CENT. MDS, die state b. The overdate feature is obvious to the unaided eye. Removed from a PCGS slab graded XF45 (PCGS label #397722.45/15435849 included, and it shows the attribution).
