ARABIA. Himyar. ‘Mdn Byn Yhqbd. AR Unit (Circa AD 80-100). RYDN (Raidan?) mint. Obv: Bare head right within coiled mystical animal; monogram to left. Rev: Bare head right; ‘sceptre’ to right. Munro-Hay 3.2ai. Usually the obverse of these types is described as head in circular line or torque. There are few examples which show a head of a mystical animal - a snake or probably a dragon - at one end of the "torque". Unlike a usual torque this one ends in an only animal head and the other end in a pointed tip. So this coin might show a depiction of the famous ouroboros-symbol. Condition: Extremely fine. Weight: 1.1 g. Diameter: 14 mm.
