Keen for his authority to be legitimised by the ruling Abbasid Caliphs, Muhammad b. Tughluq struck coins in their name. Nevertheless news of a caliph’s death did not always travel quickly enough and in the case of al-Mustakfi, Muhammad continued minting coins in his name for four years after his death. £300-350
